Transfer Student Events

Throughout the semester a number of events and social gatherings are planned for new transfer students. These events are designed to help you enjoy your time at CSU while meeting other new students and making connections. We hope to see you at our events this semester!

January

Transfer Student Trivia Night

Ramskeller (Bottom Floor of LSC)

We are excited to welcome new students for a Trivia Night and social gathering at the Ramskeller. Join us for FREE food and a great time connecting with fellow Transfer Rams! Trivia will begin at 5:00 PM.

Navigating Off-Campus Housing and Signing an Off-Campus Lease

Not a clue where to get started or what to do with a lease? It doesn’t have to be daunting if you know what to look for! Join Student Legal Services and Off Campus Life to learn about finding off-campus, the process of signing a lease, how to work with landlords/ leasing offices, how to get your deposit back, and more helpful tips!

Financial Foundations Workshop with Canvas Credit Union

Your money life right now and in the future. Your financial well-being starts with the fundamentals of spending, saving, borrowing, and future planning. Get a clear understanding of banking products, money emotions, budgeting options, savings tactics, advantages and challenges of loans, smart borrowing tips, and big picture considerations like insurance and investing. Let’s take a look at your whole money life to make your financial position stronger now and in the future.

Snowshoeing at Cameron Pass

Have you ever wanted to try snowshoeing but never known how? Have you been itching to explore the Colorado backcountry in the winter? Join Outdoor Programs and Transfer Programs on an introductory-level snowshoeing day hike in our local backcountry terrain. Transfer Tuesday with SLiCE

Fly solo or bring a fellow Ram – this event is open to any Second-Year or Transfer student! Come stop by this Transfer Tuesday with SLiCE (Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement) for information on how you can get involved during your CSU experience! Join us for swag from SLiCE, Transfer Programs, and Year 2. We will also have FREE donuts available for attendees, while supplies last. This is a free-flowing event so come drop by between classes!

Roommate Meet and Match

Off-Campus Life Office

Fly solo or bring a fellow Ram – this event is open to any First-Year, Second-Year or Transfer students! Looking for a place to live or need an extra roommate to fill a room in your house? Join us for Roommate Meet & Match session with Off-Campus Life to meet other first-year, second-year, and transfer  students to find potential roommates and housing. During the meeting, an Off-Campus Life staff member will support in facilitating the meeting and help get conversations going among attendees. Students can attend for as long as needed. Most students will join in the beginning and leave if they do not meet someone in the beginning. We recommend you join right when the event starts to meet the most people.

Fly solo or bring a fellow Ram – this event is open to any Transfer student! Meet us at Walrus Ice Cream to grab a scoop on us! Then, we will head over to the Museum of Art Fort Collins to explore the works on display. Be sure to bring your CSU ID because that will be your entrance into the museum.

Learn to Climb

Sunday, February 25 | 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Campus Rec Climbing Wall

Fly solo or bring a fellow Ram – this event is open to any First-Year, Second-Year or Transfer students! Join us for an afternoon session with Campus Rec to learn to climb! This two-hour session will cover accessing the climbing wall, renting gear, basic climbing movement, and the option to try rope climbing.

Learn to Ski and Snowboard

Snowy Range Ski Area, WY

Have you ever wanted to try skiing or snowboarding for yourself? Join Outdoor Programs and Transfer Programs for this exciting experience. This trip is open to all levels of skiers and snowboarders but strongly emphasizes teaching beginners the basics. Transfer Tuesday with the Library

Tuesday, March 19  | 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM  Morgan Library Lobby Fly solo or bring a fellow Ram – this event is open to any Second-Year or Transfer student! Come stop by this Transfer Tuesday with the Library for information on how you utilize their resources during your CSU experience! Join us for information from the Library, Transfer Programs, and Year 2. We will also have FREE Mary’s Mountain Cookies available for attendees, while supplies last. Creative Chillout

Tuesday, March 19 | 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Lory Student Center, Room 312 

Fly solo or bring a fellow Ram – this event is open to any First-Year, Second-Year or Transfer students! Being creative can help us reduce stress by giving our thinking mind a break. Creating something can be restorative, boosts our mood, and takes very little time.  In this session, you will experience various ways to bring creative breaks in small moments of everyday life.  No prior skills are required. Free food (assorted hot tea & gourmet cookies) will be provided for participants.

Snooze, Munch, Move - Self Care for You

Thursday, March 21 | 1:00 PM – 2:15 PM 
Lory Student Center , Room 324

Fly solo or bring a fellow Ram – this event is open to any First-Year, Second-Year or Transfer students! Learn about developing self-care practices that make a big difference for health and life satisfaction. Sleep, nutrition, and exercise habits are explored, information provided about why they are important, and helpful tips and resources to optimize healthy habits easily. Participants complete a self-care assessment and take away a self-drafted plan to implement in their lives. Free food (assorted hot tea & chips and dip) will be provided for participants.

Halfway There Celebration

My Future Money Life Budgeting Workshop with Canvas Credit Union

Fly solo or bring a fellow Ram – this event is open to any First-Year, Second-Year or Transfer students! Get a taste of the kind of real-life financial decisions you will be making in your future.  You will be assigned a job, income, and family then you decide how to spend your money on basics and fun stuff.  Can you make it through the month without going broke?  What will you do with all the extra you have left?  We’ll talk about the successes and challenges of managing money then chat about banking, credit scores, getting a loan, and whatever other money question you have.

Rockclimbing

Credit Score Scavenger Hunt Workshop with Canvas Credit Union

How much do you know about credit scores?  Test your knowledge by hunting up the questions from around the room then get the facts and myths clarified as we discuss how credit, credit scores, and credit bureaus really work.  It’s a topic that has tremendous influence on your financial life so it’s important to get the truth.

CSUnity (Spring Clean Up- New Student Team)

Fly solo or bring a fellow Ram – this event is open to any first-year or transfer student! Join your fellow new rams for this long-time CSU tradition. Branch out to build connections, care for our Fort Collins neighbors, and contribute to community wide clean-up projects. More information will be coming soon!
