Outdoor Experiences

Year 2 @ CSU, Transfer Programs, Campus Recreation Outdoor Programs and the CSU Mountain Campus have partnered to create outdoor experiences exclusively for second-year and transfer students! These programs provide  the opportunity to connect with other second-year and transfer students and experience the northern Colorado outdoors.

Outdoor program trips have a cost associated with them. If you are interested in participating in one of these programs and have concerns about the cost of the trip, please email us at year2@colostate.edu if you are a second-year student and tsfrpgms@colostate.edu if you are transfer student to discuss options!

Spring 2024 Events

Snowshoeing at Cameron Pass

Have you ever wanted to try snowshoeing but never known how? Have you been itching to explore Colorado’s beautiful backcountry in the winter? Join Outdoor Programs, Year 2 @ CSU, and Transfer Programs on an introductory-level snowshoeing day hike in our local winter backcountry terrain. Connect with other students while being led and taught by our Outdoor Program instructors on the basics of backcountry winter snowshoeing and winter hiking! Students will learn about how to prepare for the winter backcountry environment, travel, and basic avalanche awareness.

Learn to Ski/Snowboard

Winter in Colorado is anything but quiet. While other places might see people staying inside, Colorado’s terrain encourages residents to go skiing and snowboarding! Have you ever wanted to try skiing or snowboarding for yourself? Great! Sign up today for the Learn to Ski/Snowboard Trip event for second-year and transfer students on Sunday, March 3 at Snowy Range Ski Resort in Centennial, WY. Space for this event is LIMITED.

This event is open to all levels of skiers and snowboarders, but strongly emphasizes on teaching beginners the basics. Do not miss out on this chance to learn about and experience skiing/snowboarding. This program is brought to you in partnership with the Outdoor Program.

Spring Rock Climbing

This trip is designed to introduce students to the sport of rock climbing by experiencing one of the best local spots at Horsetooth. Participants do not need any prior climbing experience to register for this trip. Spend the day learning a new sport, experiencing the great outdoors, and engaging with other second-year and transfer students.
